I think most of my subscribers know that, during part of my stint in the Air Force, I was stationed at Sheppard A.F.B, in Wichita Falls, Texas. It was in the early 80’s. Back then, The Lone Star State was booming in oil drilling and the Texas oil men were busy counting their fists full of cash and displaying their wealth by drinking champagne out of their cowboy boots.
Texas Tea – Black Gold
I remember overhearing one of the ‘good ol’ boys’ – as they like to refer to themselves as – reminiscing, over a Lone Star beer, about how his granddaddy hit “Texas Tea” in his own backyard. At the time, I had no idea what it was. Then I found out, ‘Texas Tea” (better known as “Black Gold”) is oil! A bust eventually followed the boom, sending a lot of these Texans to bankruptcy court leaving a ton of worn out pump jacks with the signs “Not in Use” on them. I know a lot of Texans still look back fondly on the 70’s and 80’s when skyrocketing oil prices unleashed a frenzy in the formerly oil rich region and fortunes were made.
Just as the bottom fell out for the Texas oil men, so has our economy tanked. Let’s face it…it ain’t October 2007 anymore, now is it? Stocks are down and the days of people using there home as an ATM machine are over. You wouldn’t even think of using your 401K (101K nowadays) to go out and buy a GMC Silverado today, now would you?
Whether you believe it or not, you have an oil reserve – that’s as big as the newly discovered oil fields in Angola and Russia – right in your client list (house list)! You have to start drilling and pumping that “Texas Tea!”
You need to get yourself in front of your clients and potential clients on a regular basis. One of the best ways to do this is by sending out a quarterly client newsletter. I can’t stress this point enough! By getting your name in front of these sterling individuals on a regular basis, your placing yourself, on the “top of their psyche” when they think of SECURITY or ALARM or LOW-VOLTAGE SYSTEMS, FIRE ALARMS, LOCKSMITHING, PRIVATE GUARD SERVICES. And that’s what it’s all about, baby!
Acres of Diamonds
This reminds me of a quote, By Russell Conwell, from another one of my favorite books, “Acres of Diamonds.” Russell stated in speaking about his book, “The central theme of this work is that one need not look elsewhere for opportunity, achievement, or fortune. The resources to achieve all good things are present in one’s own community.” And for you, that would be in your client/prospect list!

Start Your Own Oil Drilling Company
Your Oil Exploration Team should consist of a client newsletter and the good old USPS (U.S. Postal Service). I always say if you don’t have a sales rep than put your postman to work for you.
With a quarterly client newsletter, you will be able to go deeper into your client base for new profits. The “Service That Soars” is like massive built-in drill bit that will produce a gusher of HOT qualified leads that you or your sales reps can convert to sales.
