Lowest Price Is A Totally Unsustainable Advantage.

The other day I was at the West Boylston Public Library reading an article from the New York Times title “High End Retailers Report Strong Profits, But Walmart Struggles” and the gist of the article was Saks Fifth Avenue selling items like luxurious bling-bling, fancy fragrances, and posh accessories, and reporting an historically ***FAT*** profit margin.

The Walmart Pricing Strategy
Walmart, on the other hand, referred to price strategy as necessary because of customers living paycheck to paycheck and having to “hold down” prices to get customers to pony up more money. Walmart also gives the “Royal Friggin’ Cheapskate Guarantee,” if you can find it anywhere under the sun cheaper we’ll match it. Having the rock bottom price, nobody installs it, or guards it cheaper, or secures it cheaper than us is not a competitive advantage or anything that you want to feel real smug about. Only poor people have their choices based on price, I pray that you and the clients you choose aren’t one of them. The Walmart pricing strategy will not work for the local independent security companies; it’s a sure-fire way to going mentally, spiritually, and financially bankrupt in short order. It takes zero brain cells, and zero intellectual capital to give stuff away for FREE, it takes street smarts, creativity, ingenuity, and entrepreneurship to charge top dollar for your services and command it.

Why You Should Be Selling At Higher Prices
One of the best reasons to raise your prices and raise your rates is that it allows you to AFFORD and create and deliver a wicked killer client experience from your security business to your client base. You can also afford to pay better wages and bennies to attract premier employees for your business. An even more audacious reason to sell at “Higher Prices Than Your Competition,” is that you can afford to spend more to get your customers attention that anyone else competing in your marketplace. Most business owners don’t get this, cuz they think they have to keep paying less and less to acquire a new client. You can’t be a **POWER PLAYER** in the marketplace if you’re gonna be a cheapskate.
