Reality Check…Don’t Mess With The Zohan
Whew… after a long 6 days off it’s hard to get motivated and back in to the swing of things, here goes it… But first a couple of key observations I made while lying horizontal on the couch over the weekend, and watching my flat screen telly…
The new BlackBerry “STORM” – sold out immediately upon release, VERIZION stores had long lines of people stretching city blocks waiting in the cold and rain for hours so that they can get there hands latest and greatest ‘bat phone.’ Gee dontcha think the Big 3 car companies should make something people actually want, and wrap up in cool and clever marketing to generate a stampede of new customers to there car dealerships?
You and I can never get away with this type of shenanigans cuz the only thing we get is what we kill and drag back to the cave, no parachutes and hand outs for the real back bone of the country. This only means we have to be continually investing in acquiring new ‘hunter trapping secrets.’
These last two items just left me shaking my head, I couldn’t believe it….Citi, you can’t be serious…Yes, Citi Bank… It just keeps getting better. Citigroup has announced that they plan on going forward with a deal to maintain naming rights on the Met’s new stadium, Citi Field. The 20 year deal carries a price tag of $20 million a year, totalling a measly $400 million buckaroos, and last but not least don’t forget about AIG’s 4 year $56.5 million sponsorship of Manchester United (British Soccer Team). Go figure…
Reality Check: This New Economy my friends is not what it’s cracked up to be, each dollar in wealth will now require three times as many dollars earned, in order to support the fast developing United Welfare Nation. I’d rather be buying new clients/ customers instead of watching the DOW JONES out of the corner of my eye, if you can do 1st grade arithmetic, you’ll know the BIGGEST RATE OF RETURN is in client acquisition. Not in a money market account at 3.27%.
Now for some good humor stuff I was watching “Don’t Mess with the Zohan”, starring Adam Sandler, late Saturday night with my wife Natasha & I. Don’t worry I ain’t gonna give away the whole story line. Zohan is an Israeli Army “Crack Special Forces Agent” who is sick of his day job as the top spec ops agent in Israel for capturing Palestinian terrorists, his lifelong dream is to come to America where he can become a hair stylist like his idol ‘Paul Mitchell.’ But he can’t share his secret dream with anyone because every time Zohan reveals his secret people just laugh at him… And that’s typical when you wanna do something outside the norm, folks just look at you like your weird.
His family and friends can’t see Zohan as a hair stylist, they only see him as a lean-mean killing machine. What Zohan (I know it’s only a comedy, but this stuff holds true in real life) did that most people will never do, is to live their dream or expand upon a dream they’re already living. So Zohan gave up his current gig and ran off to NYC, heck… Where else do you go when you wanna learn how to cut hair.
What I believe to be unique about this is that if you are successful in one area of your life these skills can be transferable to another area or niche within your industry or heck a whole new business for that matter. If you a residential security dealer and you’ve had a lot of success up to now selling home security systems, and now you want to venture into a new niche like say commercial security system, now is the time to acquire the skill set to move ahead into a new niche, when one niche dries up, another will always appear and you will always have the tools, the mindset and the know how to dive, head first, into a new niches. Shucks… A small security business packaged artfully and intelligently with purpose, is a tremendously powerful investment tool. So market the heck out of your existing business so when its time to move on, you can sell it for a king’s ransom. You and the misses can open a bed & breakfast in Playa Del Carmen (Mexican Riveria), and really enjoy life they way it’s mean’t to be. So listen to your inner Zohan, and live out your dreams… One of my all time favorite quotes is from Jim Rohn “Don’t Settle For Less Then You Can Become”… Enuff said… Tune in next week…Same Bat-Time…Same Bat-Channel… Peace Out!
